Birth Announcement and little more from the life.

UMotherhood is fun and easy. Said no mum ever. But every moment is a moment to cherish. Well, not every moment. There are moments that we really wonder if we can handle them. But thankfully they don't last longer. If you've been reading my posts you already knew I was expecting my baby #2. I delivered a baby boy on may 27th at 5.38a.m.it was a  quick birth compared to my daughter's birth. I am not comfortable enough to share my birth stoeries on a media though I like to keep a journal on pregnancy to birth. So if incase I want to get pregnant again I can read them and decide if I really want to go through it again. LOL! But I didn't keep a journal either.

I am trying to update the blog with the birth Announcement ever since my little handsome born. But couldn't finish editing the post.

He is pretty much sleep through the night. But almost awake in the day time. When he is awaken he wanted to be held and rock all day. It's hard to calm him down otherwise.

Whenever he crying dear daughter scream and cry if everyone at home giving their attention to her brother to calm him down. It's quite frustrating so I try to take care of little handsome everytime because dear daughter doesn't like anyone else to give their attention to her new brother. because she was the only one ruling the home last two years. I don't expect her to understand that he also need everyone's love and attention just like her. She is too small to act like a big sister. I hope she will share and get along with him as they grow up. I can say she really like him because she checking him out every now and then though it's hard her to accept the new change completely. I see it as a good sign.

We are trying to pay a little extra attention for her as she is being more adamant and having tantrums almost all day which I think to grab the attention. She usually used to have evening tantrums and now her brother join with her to give some real fun of motherhood to their mummy. Thankfully I don't face these crying and screaming all alone, Because my family is helping with me to take care of the kids.

Anyway, I know raising kids not easy. I am not regretting to be a mom either. They made my life fulfilled.

II don't want to bore you with more. But I really like to talk about kids. Meet you in another post soon. Good Day to you!

Janet NATURAL FINISH Powder-N-Blush Review

Janet is a local brand of skincare and makeup products in Sri Lanka. If your a Sri Lankan you may know this brand because it is one old and famous brand here. If you are not a Sri Lankan then you probably won't even know the name. But still you can read this post if you are interested.

I've already done a review of Janet Strawberry Face wash. Reason I like to buy local products is they are not pricey. Lets get into the review.

Janet NATURAL FINISH Powder-N-Blush

Product claims 'A sheer fine face powder & blush-on smoothens & perfects for a lasting silky natural glow. enriched with milk, minerals & natural vitamins.'

This Powder-N-Blush is one of my first makeup products. I loved using it because I had oily skin problem earlier and this product is something my skin get along with. I don't have oily skin problem now though I repurchased it because it doesn't seem like I wear makeup on but it does brighten my skin-tone. I don't know if I mention on my earlier posts that I don't like heavy makeup on casual day out or for everyday makeup rather than a occasion.

This product just gives a finishing look for your makeup. You need to get several touch ups for a long makeup day. I loved wearing this with Janet Liquid Foundation but any foundation will work well with this. It does look good even without a foundation on but when I closely looked my face on a mirror I can see that powder settled in pores and it looked like my face dry out.

I've got No. 6- Deep Saffron which is pretty much goes well with medium and fairer skin tones. they instruct to apply all over face & neck using powder applicator that comes along with this. But I usually use a blush brush to apply it because its like too much of powder applied with applicator. It will soon fade off but I dont like that powder baby look on me. In case I applied with applicator I even use the blush brush to spread it evenly and dust off excess powder.

this is how it look when applied with its applicator.
PROS:
  • Gives Natural look.
  • Brighten up the skin-tone
  • Smell really good.
  • Very cheap in price. its just Rs.340 and mostly available anywhere in Sri Lanka.
CONS:
  • Doesn't long last.
  • Hate the applicator. It applied too much powder unevenly.
  • Powder settled in my pores.
Overall I do love wearing this with foundation that need a powder touch up. Its a not so good and not really bad powder. I would recommend it if you want a powder that really cheap in price or if you like a powder for everyday use or just for touch up.

Nappy Holder

Nappy holder/Diaper Stacker is a bag like a thing to organize your baby's nappies and diapers in one place. At the same time you can use it as a nursery decor while you hang it on the wall or in cribe or cot. Since I will be having my baby no2 anytime soon I need to keep everything ready and Keep all the newborn baby stuffs away from my daughter. Because she's likely to pull anything and everything at the home and her favourite game is to playing with clothes. So it's safe and convenience to hang them in the wall for me.

You can either buy or stich a nappy holder. But if you know to stich then  do it by yourself because it's very easy and moneysaving. You may not need lot of material either. And you can reuse any old clothes too.

So this is my first nappy ever. And I love it. Would you like to see a DIY post on this. Let me know...
Have a good day!

LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL BLACK Review

I bought this LAKM E EYECONIC KAJAL after almost two years. I already reviewed H&M Solid Black Eyeliner and Golden rose dipliner which I being used. I usually don't buy any makeup or skincare products until I finished what I have already got. though I like to review every makeup products from all the brands I am afraid to buy them because I don't use makeup on daily basis. I don't know if I should mention this here. However I like to keep reviews on my used products so that I can look back on them and consider to buy them even after few years later.

you may hear a lot about LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL. But this is my version of review on this.

LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL BLACK

I've got LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL in Black. You also can find other colors on this range but black is my favorite and it goes well with every dress you wear. This KAJAL seems very promising as it claims 10 hours NO SMUDGE and WATERPROOF. I am not sure if this KAJAL completely works as it say. Because it Fades away when I rub or wash. This can be wash it off with soap and water but for safe side I use almond oil or olive oil as a makeup remover. some kajals and eyeliners cannot wipe away completely with almond or olive oil as they still leave some stain. But LAKME EYECONIC easily got removed completely. I dont know if this happens only with me because I've read many reviews telling how good this KAJAL is. Well, I have to say if comparing to the other kajals and eyeliners LAKME eyeconic doesn't smudge all over my eyes.  But it fades away.

What I like in LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL BLACK

  • Doesn't smudge all over my eyes.
  • Though its a kajal it look like an eyeliner pencil. which is very easy to use and I can control how dark and thick my eyeliner wanted to be.
  • Achieve a smokey eye look easily.

What I dont like about LAKME EYECONIC KAJAL are

  • Not completely Waterproof.
  • Need to draw two three strokes. Otherwise it has a pale black stain.
  • fades away soon. If I rub my eyes thoroughly with Kajal on my eyes it doesn't smudge but fades away.

you can see one stroke is very pale. for dark black stain I drew several lines.

After 45 minute I thoroughly rub it. one stroke line disappeared and other line almost fade away. if it take a little time to set in then 45 minute is more than enough. right?? and happily no smudge there.

1st picture(left side) is after wash the lines with water and pat dry. you can see stains almost gone. second picture took after washing using soap.

  • However only thing I am happy to buy this because it doesn't smudge like other kajals. I have to draw many times to get a darker look but I am happy that I can remove them all easily.

If you are looking for a Smudge proof Kajal then this is for you. If you like darker stain with waterproof one then this is definitely not for you. comment below and tell me what is your favorite kajal or eyeliner.

    Recipe Time ~Cookies~

Hi! here I am with my blog again. in my last post I told I will change my blog name this week. But I couldn't figure out a new name for my blog yet. I also think to change my blog appearance so tell me what you like and what should I change in my blog. I like to hear your ideas.

It's about Basic Sugar cookies on my Recipe Time series today. I found this recipe on Fauzia's Kitchen fun website which is one of my favorite food site. I also searched some other recipes on internet but this seems easiest and since its called Basic Sugar Cookies we thought to try it as this is our first cookie try out. WE means me and my sister. I should mention that my sister did the whole cooking proses and I only helped her to find the recipe. however, we both like to try new recipes together.

I will only mention the ingredients list here. You can find the recipe on www.fauziaskitchenfun.com.

    Basic Sugar Cookies

    Ingredients

    Basics of DIY Hair Cut

Have you ever cut your hair by your self? Does that sound risky?? for me its not. I agree that if you want to do a particular hair cut then you should meet a professional. I too ran to a hairdresser once or twice for a haircut but every 3 months I trim and cut my hair alone. though I couldn't cut my hair or someone else's like a professional do, I am OK with a simple layered hair or U,V cut with some bangs which I pretty much doing well.

I tried a long layered cut with my sister's hair by following step by step instructions in a ladies magazine. It came out perfect. but when I tried the same style with my hair, I found it bit difficult without a helper.

I watched many you tubers doing DIY haircut videos. some are awesome and some girls just chopping their hair as they wish. A proper hair cut is very important because it can change your whole appearance. so be patient and take lot of time as possible when Doing it alone.

After practising over 4 years now I can do a simple hair cut alone. Cutting U or V cut is super easy for me and it gives an extra volume to my hair. and with some bangs it looks perfect. but If you afraid to do it by yourself don't ever try it. when you cutting your hair alone You should be confident and be ready to accept the outcome.

As I mentioned I've go through a lot of you tube videos and articles about hair cutting before I started doing it alone.
These are some basic Tips you will need when you cutting your hair alone. again to mention I am not a professional. I learned by practising and through experience.
    1. Have Time
never cut hair in hurry. stay calm and be patience. don't do any thing else while hair cutting. concentrate on what your doing.
    2. Plan
plan how you going to cut hair. choosing a you tube video as a guide helps lot. And decide how much length you need. keep on mind when your hair dries it will look shorter.
    3. cut in front of a mirror. and have a sharp scissor, layer knife, hair clips, hair wools, comb, and a spray bottle. If you can have a helper with you who basically have any knowledge about hair cuts or at least a person who can tell if your cutting evenly on both sides. if not have an extra mirror for back view.
    4. Every time cut a little hair at a time. and Do not ever cut a lot. because your hair look shorter when it dries. if you shorten your hair too much it will be more shorter when you tries to give a straight cut if in case your hair cut didn't came out well.. but if you cut carefully by following instructions there are no chances for mistakes.Check and measure the both sides to check if you cutting them in the same length. It will look bad when you didn't evenly cut on both sides. then your haircut will also look imperfect.
    5. Keep your hair wet with a spray bottle or cut your hair after a bath. Our hair will be thinner and longer when its wet. apply some argon oil or conditioner your hair to manage it easier.
Do not feel bad if you didn't get the look of your imagination. practise make everything perfect. I will share a you tube video I found sometimes ago which I think is easy and perfect way to trim my hair alone.

and this one is the easiest and informative step by step by step Video tutorial ever.
I used this method to trim my haircut which I had by a hairdresser 3 months ago.

I haven't had a worst hair cut by trying to cut my hair alone until now. if you too want to cut your hair alone try on your own risk.
I know its very bad to not to add my own haircut pictures when I am talking so much about DIY haircut. But I'l do a picture tutorial on layer cut with a dummy or a model to show you how I am doing it.
Hope you Like this post. Comment your views, and experiences in hair cutting.
    Good Day to you!!

    Back to Blog

This is my first post almost after a year. I kinda quit blogging because of less access to the laptop and by being busy enjoying my motherhood with my daughter. I tried few mobile blog apps like blogger for mobile, Blogway but they are not easy to work like on computer. so I gave up that too.

With this new start I thought like changing my blog name and domain because I want my blog and mehndi page and if I start something else to do in future should go by matching name. so people can identify my works through it. if you have any name suggestions let me know.

I will be update the blog with a new look and name withing a week. I hope you'll enjoy my posts as you do before. watch this space to see product reviews, food recipes, mummy things, random ladies stuffs and bit of my thoughts... see you!!!

GOLDEN ROSE dip liner liquid eyeliner review

Well, here I am with a review post again. willing to fill up my make-up bag with some new products so before that I hope to review each product in it.

Today I chose this Golden Rose dip liner liquid eyeliner. It's not a one of a popular branded ones. Though I found some reviews about it. I never used a product from this brand before. But It's not about the brand everytime.

"This liquid eyeliner is easily applicable with its practical brush. Creates deep and mysterious gaze with its rich color, lasting and fast dry texture."

This is how website discribe it. But I can't accept it completely. I tell you why.

I bought this at Ansar gallery in Citycentre mall over a year ago when I was on a visit to Doha.I couldn't remember the price. But it was somewhat cheap comparing to other popular brand eyeliners.

I used to pencil eyeliners and this was the first dip eyeliner I ever bought. Frankly I am not an eye liner pro, still a learner I am. I may erase, wash, redraw several times while using an eye liner. so this Golden Rose eye liner's fading and washable quality is so helping me to learn to draw nearly perfect eyeliner. Yes, it is fading so quickly . And you can rub it off easily too. Obviously it doesn't suit for long make-up days. But as a newbie its almost not a problem for me. I will tell you more about this little dip liner.

It's a very tiny bottle with a brush in long easy to hold tailed like lid.

the brush in it gives the fine lines and you can easily draw your desired eyeliner.

Liquid type. Dark black stain. Dry quickly. Fade off so easily. Long lasting power depending on you. It will stay until you rub/wipe your eyes or you wash it off. This is the reason I couldn't accept what website claims. Though it's fading quality not at all a problem for me, it's a disadvantage. However we all love eyeliners with long staying without smudge and fading off.

Only for eyeliner. Never for waterline. Never for the inner part of the eyes. not even a bit. I accidently applied a bit on upper inner line and its kinda burning. Scary... But if handled properly  nothing to worry.

    cheap. Handy. Good for beginners.

    Finally....
It's an OK product for me. Not so good or not so bad. If you need to practice to draw a perfect eyeliner. This is for you. You can wipe it with a tissue and redraw until you get it right. But if your a makeup pro or you need an eyeliner that stay for long. then forget this. This is certainly not for you.

I am kinda get bored to see this in my makeup bag everyday. And I think I enough practicing with this. So next time I rather go to Maybelline or L'oreal Paris for thier staying power. If your already using them. Share your thoughts with me.  So I can decide to by this or that.

Oriflame very my No Time for Shine powder

__"Shiny skin is a thing of the past. Mattifying formula absorbs oil and keeps skin looking fresh when you need it. Conceals imperfections without hiding your natural skin tone. Perfect alone or paired with Very Me Cover Up Concealer."__
This is what company claims about Very Me No Time for Shine powder. I was editing this review post for months and never got to finish this. Finally I managed to post this today. Sometimes I really wonder How those mummy bloggers doing all that stuffs. Hope I will learn that trick one day. LOL!!
OK, now I will tell you about this product.

Girls who doesn't like that much of make-up would love this. But we need to keep on mind that this is not a foundation or blush. Its a powder.just a compact powder. So we couldn't expect much from it. But this No Time for Shine powder is not like usual powder. It's brighten up your face and no one ever know you applied something. It look so natural. If you want a natural make-up look this work well. I brush my face a bit after applying with the sponge to blend it more evenly.

I bought this on a special offer price. actual price is LKR949. It's already expired withing eight months since I bought this. So beware expire date If you planning to buy something on special offer..If not it can be use around more than a year.

It has two shades in this range. I have Matte Latte. The other one is Matte Light.

    Why I love this?
Its quite cheap when compared to other expensive products. travel friendly. Doesn't take lot of space in my bag. Can be use for both fair and brownish skin types. I can say it because me and my sister used this and it goes well with our different skin types. Sorry for unclear photographs. But I hope you can get an idea how this powder blended on my and my sister's skin.

    Why I hate this?
Staying power is very low. You have to touch up every few hours. So it doesn't suit for a long makeup day. You can wear it whenever you doesn't need lot of makeup. Other thing is it's packaging. Lid easily can removed. Everytime I open lid got remove. I hate it. And it has paraben in it's ingredients list. Yes! I started to take a look at ingredients. Because I don't need to take a risk of cancer. No! Not anyway. Thank to those who spreading awareness of parabens.

Though I love this very me No Time for Shine powder I will not buy it again nor recommend it to anyone because it has paraben in it. Other than that it's a good product.

I have few other Oriflame products to review. Before that let me know your favourite Oriflame products in comments.

Vaseline cocoa butter lotion & Blog Anniversary Alert

A year ago I started blogging to spend my leisure time. After a deep research I decided to blogging but I never knew I will ever going to continue this. I just needed to share my views and expect nothing in return.  In starting I was interested on writing general stuffs but lately I was more interest in writing reviews. Well, now as a mom I hardly find time to think random stuffs, but it’s easy for me to write reviews on products because I am a person who loves using varies products. I know you too love it. But you know what it means. I was completely inactive when I was pregnant due to my morning sickness and then shifting to Doha to Colombo. But now I am trying to write at least a post per week to keep my blog alive. But as I said, it is hard to find time to blogging because my baby needs more attention as she is still 2 month old. Any way I would like to THANK to all who supported me from the starting till now by commenting on posts and following my blog, and would like to thank silent readers too. And also I am planning on a Giveaway to celebrate my Blog anniversary. I haven’t yet decided when and what, but it will start soon for sure. Till then tell your friends about my blog. If you haven't follow my blog yet. you can do it now through Google Friend Connect. you can find it right side on the blog. And do  like my facebook page Blog Impulse to get updates. I also love to hear your advices and suggestions as it is my first GIVEAWAY.

OK, Now lets have a look on what I take to review on this cozy rainy day.

    Vaseline cocoa butter lotion

‘Vaseline cocoa butter deep conditioning body lotion with cocoa butter and vitamin E’ huh…what a big name it is!I bought this about 6 months ago and finished very recently. Don’t be surprise! I haven’t use this regularly. I was used to baby lotions lately and empty my baby’s lotion bottles. Yes, I know I might not do that! I will stop doing that right now, OK. now let’s see what Vaseline cocoa butter claims,

“Vaseline cocoa butter lotion melts into skin to smooth away roughness and the appearance of uneven areas, igniting skin’s natural glow at the source.
    - Rich cocoa butter – helps even skin texture
    - conditioning moisture – leave skin smooth and supple”

And it says to apply daily for healthy looking skin. I can’t clearly say it does its job as it claims. But I can see a different in my skin. Specially like my elbow areas. Since I have been using few other lotions and creams, I am not sure which cream done that job. I have a normal skin which dries only in climate changes or if use water.  In those times this lotion gives me enough moisture. Talking about texture, it has really watery kind texture. It seems like melting butterscotch ice cream. Yes, it looks like that.It gives a kind of wet feeling first but then absorb to skin and leave a moisture. Naturally my palms and feet are likely to sweat as always, and this lotion increases it. Other than that it has no greasy or sweaty effect on applied areas. My most favorite part in this lotion is it smell... have you ever eaten butter toffees? Mm... If you are a fan of it beware you may eat this. LOL! I looove this smell. And people at my home like ‘ Ahh we need toffees right now’. interestingly my husband like this lotion too. he is not a person who loves using creams and all. but he like this. Finally it is not best but something good for daily use.and also available in reasonable price.

    Labello LIp Balms

I am girl who cannot leave her lips alone. Not just because they are dry at times but because I love them to shine and sparkle. Ok, I know who hates that!! But I don’t buy Lip balms and glosses occasionally. Unless I need one. For now I am using Labello Lip balms which I have been using over a year. They’ve got wide range of lip balms and lip glosses. Varity in taste and colour. I already reviewed a Labello lip gloss. I am currently using Labello Pure & natural MILK & HONEY  and Labello Angel Star. I have fallen in love with Labello Fruity Shine STRAWBERRY Lip Balm once. It was Reddish in color and smell so fruity. Suitable for those who afraid to wear Red Lipstic and for those who need to moisture their lips with bit of colour. Shortly girls like me!! I wonder why I haven’t buy that one again. May be its because I impelled to try other Labello stuffs too. God Knows! Anyway these are two little lovelies rule my lips for now…

    Labello MILK & HONEY

Sweet smell of Honey and bit of cocoa butter gives an amazing feel of smell. I Totally love the smell. It doesn’t hit the nose at all. Shia Butter and Jojoba Oil in it makes Lips soft & moisturize well for hours… No need to apply as much of it on lips. Gives moisture and shine in first swipe. Suitable for day to day lip care. I do wear this on empty lips as well as a base before I apply any lip glosses. Because I hate that sticky and greasy effect of those lip glosses. So this give me a feel of                                 moisturize. This doesn’t stick or greasy.

    Labello Angel Star

its a party balm. yes! It has silver glitters in it, which gives a shimmering look to your lips. Comparing to milk and honey it is poor in moisture. But Smell delicious than that. It remembering the smell of bubblegum. leaves a cream like texture and gives a greasy type moisture for lips which I don’t like in it. Once it dry I feel it stick to my lips, even after I wash it off. Only thing I like is its smell and pale pink pigment.  I like wearing this for fancy, though it doesn’t moisture when my lips dry. it looks great on my lips along with lip liner and a gloss.

MAXFACTOR 2000 CALORIE DRAMATIC VOLUME MASCARA REVIEW

I wanted to review this Mascara since I bought it. Because It is one of those products I feel quite satisfied with. I picked this MAXFACTOR 2000 CALORIE DRAMATIC VOLUME MASCARA  at Ansar Gallery in City Centre, Doha. we should always feel comfortable with make up. Most of time I wear mascara I afraid to rub my eyes, specialy in front of people. you know how it look like if they smudge all over eyes. Scary!! Of course! And I hate that drowsy eyes after applying them (Wonder if anyone else feel that too). I couldn’t wait telling you about this. MAXFACTOR 2000 CALORIE DRAMATIC VOLUME MASCARA doesn’t  have those irritating issues. That’s why I love wearing it.
This comes with and without waterproof. And brown/black in colors too.

It claims that Volumising mascara is for up to 300% more Volume.and Smudgeproof.

    Reasons I love it

    ·        Volumising and lengthens well.
    ·         Love the curl it gives to lashes.
    ·         Doesn’t smudge unless it is water.
    ·         Easy to take off by washing it with soap and water.
    ·         Brush is easy to handle.

    Things I don’t Like

    ·         Dry pretty quick, should apply fast. if not can get clumpy.
    ·         Strong Mascara smell.

MOMMY & ME STRETCH MARK CREAM REVIEW

Hello lovelies!! After loooong break. If you have been visit my blog and facebook page regurally you may know that I was pregnant. I had a baby girl on 7th  April. It’s a news.
The reason I have been absent quite long time is I was more concentrate on getting ready for baby arrive and spending a lot of time with family. But as things getting normal I thought this is high time I should get back to my favorite blogger thing.  So here I am back.

Like most of new mommies my biggest conscious after having baby is my body. Dark pigments on some parts of skin like neck, armpit, belly. Stretch marks. And be on shape. No matter what remedies we try, How much conscious we are about that, we can’t avoid them happening. And it is not possible to get rid of them as quick we hope. Well but this is not something where I talk how to get rid of them. So let’s go to topic.

MOMMY & ME STRETCH MARK CREAM is something I chose to help me to prevent stretch marks during my pregnancy. I have been used this on my third trimester. alternatively I used a mixture of same amount of almond & olive oil to massage my belly now and then.  I make my review in short.

MOMMY & ME STRETCH MARK CREAM is to help diminish stretch marks before and after pregnancy.

Smell: hard to explain. Some may hate while some may feel it has a nice smell. For me it is not something special but sure not an unbearable smell.

Texture:  off white in color,  watery type cream.

How to use: it is recommended to use 2 to 4 times a day as needed. As I use this along with olive & almaond oil, I only used this 2 times a day. All you need is to gently massage this on tummy after wash.

Result:  couldn’t say I got positive result at all. But this cream sure help me from itchiness and moisturize well. Anyway there is no cream to diminish stretch marks whatsoever.May be I should use this even after giving birth to see a better result. May be!! But I omit to buy this again as it quite expencive.  But I will not quit trying. so I switch to my alternative option almond and olive oil combination. And also in search of more tips and remedies to be quit of stretch marks.

Now tell me have you tried this cream to prevent stretch marks? And does it help?
and also share your thoughts, experiences,  tips and remedies which help reduse stretch marks.

THE BODY SHOP COCONUT BODY BUTTER REVIEW

'THE BODY SHOP' a favourite brand of ladies. we can find a lot of flavours in their range. I bought this coconut body butter few months ago. you can find this on my Mini BODY SHOP Haul.
I have used this only for 2, 3 times. so not going very deep, I'll review it in short.

    How does it smell :
Smell as it named. The real coconut smell and a bit of cocoa butter. but not too strong. smell stays for hours. some may hate this smell while some love it. I have mixed feeling about this smell.

    Moisturise :
Ideal for dry skins. absorb fast and moisturise well. as I'm having a normal skin it leaves little bit greasy effect. preferably good for dry skins.

I haven't used it more than 2,3 times. as I having mixed feeling about the scent and it leaves my hands sweaty. (my hands are likely to sweaty naturally and this body butter increase it) so I am not a big fan of this.

Have you tried THE BODY SHOP BODY BUTTERS?
if so what is your favourite one?
your comments will help me to choose when I buy a new one.
